Topic - College Has No Closets; Understanding Your LGBTQIA+ Students

Description:  This workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to develop a better understanding of LGBTQIA+ terminology, gay culture, professional resources for queer students, and more. We will also discuss what colleges may offer in terms of resources and how that may affect a student’s choice. This session will feature highly interactive exercises that require full participation. 

(Please note: The content, language and conversations may be uncomfortable for some, but are vital for the work that we all need to do.)

After attending this workshop, you will:

• Have a better understanding of the realities your LGBTQIA+ students face.
• Have acquired more accurate terminology that you can use when you communicate with students and colleagues.
• Understand what LGBTQIA+ students may need from a college environment.
• Be able to help students assess college environments that are a better fit for them.
• Receive a Certificate of Attendance to submit for ACT 48 credit through your district/IU. (Note: you must be registered and logged in to the LIVE Online Workshop individually for the entire time to qualify for the certificate.)
