Speaker: Dr. Adam Oldham is a dedicated high school counselor at the Big Spring School District and a passionate advocate for students and public education. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication Studies with minors in Spanish and Business, as well as his Master of Education in School Counseling (K-12), at Shippensburg University. He also earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Immaculata University, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and adjuncts for the Shippensburg University Department of Counselor Education.
Dr. Oldham served for seven years on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association (PSCA), and has led its Government Relations work since 2020. He is also the current President of the School Counselors Section of the Pennsylvania State Education Association’s Department of Pupil Services (PSEA DPS). In 2023, he helped found the Capital Area School Counselors Association, and he established the Pennsylvania Coalition of Student Services Associations (PACSSA), representing more than 10,000 school counselors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers across the Commonwealth.
Dr. Oldham was recognized as the 2024 Pennsylvania School Counselor of the Year (a six-time nominee for the honor) and is the 2026 ASCA National School Counselor of the Year nominee for the state of Pennsylvania. He also received the 2024 Distinguished Service Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Pupil Services Administrators for his contributions to the field of student services. In 2017, he was honored as the State Advisor of the Year by the Pennsylvania chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).
Dr. Oldham has become a prominent voice in Pennsylvania education policy. He has testified before the Pennsylvania House and Senate Education Committees, as well as the Basic Education Funding Commission, where he has championed comprehensive student services programming and adequate school funding. Since the start of his advocacy work, more than 1,000 additional student services professionals (including more than 500 school counselors) have been hired in schools across Pennsylvania.
