Counseling Students During Current Times
Description: With all that is going on in the world including a global pandemic and a racial reckoning here in the United States, high school students and counselors are faced with more challenges than ever. In this session, we will discuss what the school year holds for each of us including the important topics of COVID-19, the importance of embracing diversity, equity, & inclusion in our work, counseling in virtual, hybrid or in person models, standardized testing challenges, and the importance of trauma informed counseling and counselor self-care. Come prepared to discuss all of these important and relevant topics as we get ready to begin what is sure to be another unusual school year.
Target Audience: High school counselors, Independent Counselors, CBOs, and anyone working in a counseling setting with high school students
Presenters: Ginny Johnson, Pathways to Admission LLC, and Dana Martin, Mastery Charter Schools Lenfest
Cost: Free for members, $10 for non-members
