Welcome to the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling’s website. I hope you will find PACAC to be a valuable resource in your work. PACAC provides professional development, networking, education, and community to those who assist students as they search for postsecondary education. Whether you are a longtime member of our association, new to the profession, or just visiting and seeking resources, I hope you find this website helpful.
I’m humbled and honored to serve as PACAC’s president for the 2022-23 school year. As I reflect on this past school year, my mind keeps coming back to the students we serve. Most of those students are teenagers, and the central question of adolescence is “Who am I?” That’s it. That’s most of what adolescence is. Just asking that question over and over and looking for answers. But our students are coming of age during a time when they, along with the rest of us, are grappling with more than their personal identity. They are dealing with ongoing societal issues including the effects of a global pandemic, historical and ongoing racism, and the erosion of fundamental rights that some of us have grown up taking for granted. Our students need us more than ever as they think about their futures and who they want to be in the world.
The members of PACAC are helping them to answer those questions. Those of us who work at colleges allow our students to envision themselves as future doctors, lawyers, business executives, nurses, community organizers, teachers, filmmakers, social workers, artists, or physical therapists. For those of us on the secondary side, we are helping them to think about whether the next step on their journey is college, trade school, the military, work, or a gap year. PACAC exists to help us become more effective at helping our students, and the programming we offer, both virtually and in-person, brings us together to learn from each other.
So, if you are here for resources, we have them. PACAC members have access to all of our recorded online workshops and some of the Promoting Inclusivity & Equity workshops are freely available to all. Check out our Resources page for even more.
I look forward to continuing to partner with each of our volunteers on behalf of our 1,200+ members and the students they serve. If you work in our profession and are not a member of PACAC, please consider joining! And if you need assistance to afford the cost of membership, please consider using our Counselor Assistance Program to request a grant.
I am happy you found us and hope to see and hear from you soon. If you have any questions please feel free to use the resources on this website to reach out to one of our Officers, Directors, Committee Chairs, or At-Large Delegates.
Be well,
Stacey Cunitz
