Michael M. Gaynor Counselor Assistance Grant ProgramOne way PACAC supports its members is through the Michael M. Gaynor Counselor Assistance Grant Program by providing grants to help in the professional development of those serving in some capacity of PACAC’s Mission. Gaynor believed that everyone deserved to have the opportunity to grow and learn in our profession, and he actively supported many professional development programs publicly, while also impacting so many on a personal and individual level. The Michael M. Gaynor CAP Grant Program embodies that same spirit by helping members access meaningful professional development opportunities, invest in their own growth, and, in turn, strengthen our profession.. Background: In August of 2024, Michael M Gaynor passed away at the age of 66. His impact in the admissions profession was profound, and can be seen through the lasting impression that he has made in PACAC and beyond. To honor his legacy, PACAC renamed the Counselor Assistance Program after Michael in 2026, introducing the new honor and posthumous recognition at the 2026 Annual Conference. Counselors whose institution or organization cannot provide financial support are able to apply to use a CAP Grant toward PACAC Membership, any PACAC Professional Development event, or the NACAC Annual Conference.
