ELP Webinar 3
Topic: Best Practices for Professional Conduct and Confidentiality in College Admission Counseling
Speakers:
Nicole Shannon started working in the Office of Admission at Carnegie Mellon University as an Associate Director of Admission and member of the Partnership Management Team in September 2022. Prior to CMU, she worked at Washington & Jefferson College for six years, most recently serving W&J as Associate Director of Admission & Strategic Recruitment. Nicole graduated from Carlow University in 2015 and worked in admission all throughout her undergraduate experience. In addition, she earned her Master’s in Higher Education from Robert Morris University. Nicole lives in Dormont with her boyfriend, Matt and they have two cats who are the absolute loves of their lives named Squish and Peanut. Nicole spends most of her free time with her sisters, Julie and Sara! She loves stand-up comedy, traveling, celebrity memoirs, her family, and cats!
Emily Cutler graduated from Lafayette College and subsequently earned a master’s in Counseling and Guidance from Rutgers University Graduate School of Education. She then returned to Lafayette as an admissions counselor before moving to the Philadelphia area to join Drexel University’s admissions office working with first year and transfer students for five years. While taking some time to raise her three children, she couldn’t give up admissions entirely so she continued to work as a reader for Drexel evaluating both domestic and international applications. Emily then enjoyed serving as a reader for Wharton’s full-time MBA program for 10 years. Missing working directly with students, Emily earned a certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from University of California Irvine and started Cutler College Counseling in 2018, shepherding many students including her own three children through the college admissions process. In her free time she enjoys tennis, pickleball, and golf with her husband, cooking and baking for her family, and snuggling with her dog.
Audience: Secondary and Postsecondary admissions and school counseling professionals looking to hone their skills and implement best ethical practices into their work.
