Mx. Alyx Matchett has served as the College and Financial Aid Advisor at The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) since 2021.After two years working with PALCS through the College Advising Corps of Pennsylvania in partnership with AmeriCorps and Franklin & Marshall College, Alyx joined PALCS full-time in 2023. Alyx has been an active member of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling, serving on several committees including Secondary School Counseling, Conference Planning, Communications, and Inclusion, Access, and Success. When they are not working with students, Alyx enjoys writing, playing board games, gardening, and trying to guess the purple category first in the NYT Connections.
For four years, Drucella Garcia has worked in the Office of Admission Access and Diversity Initiatives team, leading efforts for local recruitment strategy, underresourced recruitment and counseling initiatives, and on-campus programming for high school counselors and CBO partners. Now, she serves as one of the Associate Directors of Admission for Local Recruitment and Strategy Outreach. Her role is to assist prospective students and families with the application and financial aid process, bridge and build relationships with community partners and CBOs, and provide up-to-date information regarding admission trends, college success, and changes to the admission cycle. She has represented Admission abroad to India and Brazil, as well as lived abroad on the CMU-Q campus in Doha, Qatar.
Outside of work, she serves as an At-Large Representative of the CMU Staff Council and Co-Lead for the Latine Alliance Employee Resource Group which helps to support events for their Latinx and Hispanic community on campus.
This May, she will graduate from the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy with a Master in Public Management and specialization in Leadership and Management.
